Definitions
-
RiserNest: A platform designed to manage communities for companies, enabling communication, collaboration, voting, issue handling, and payments. It consists of two main applications: the Dashboard Application (DAPP) for community management and the Community Application (CAPP) for member interaction.
-
Dashboard Application (DAPP): The administrative interface used by community admins and staff to manage community members, events, payments, voting, and issues.
-
Community Application (CAPP): A private social network where community members, invited by admins, can interact by posting, voting, joining events, and submitting issues.
-
Admin: The first user to create an account on DAPP. Admins manage the community and may add staff, Advisors, and manage community members and content.
-
Staff: Individuals assigned by the Admin to assist in community management on DAPP. Staff have varying levels of access to data based on their role in the community.
-
Advisor: A user invited by Admins or staff to provide consulting or advisory services within CAPP. Advisors may be assigned to specific companies or community members to address their needs.
-
DAPP User: A user of the Dashboard Application (DAPP), which includes both Admins and staff who manage the community. DAPP Users are responsible for member management, event creation, payments, voting, and handling community issues.
-
CAPP User: A community member invited to participate in a community through CAPP. This user can interact by sharing posts, voting, joining events, and submitting issues.
-
Private Privacy Plan: A privacy setting for CAPP users that restricts access to personal information (e.g., real name, company name, private posts) to only those members who have been approved as followers.
-
Public Privacy Plan: A privacy setting for CAPP users where the real name and company name are visible to all community members. Members can follow without approval, and followers can see private posts, while non-followers cannot.
-
Private Posts: Posts that are only visible to followers in the Public Privacy Plan and approved followers in the Private Privacy Plan.
-
Public Posts: Posts visible to all community members regardless of privacy settings.
-
Personal Data: Information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, including names, contact details, account information, posts, and preferences.
-
Data Controller: The entity or individual (Admin, staff, or Advisor) responsible for determining how personal data is processed within a community.
1. Information We Collect
-
We collect different types of information based on whether you are a CAPP user or a DAPP user.
1.1 For CAPP Users (Community Members)
- Account Information: When invited to a community, we collect your name, email address, and other profile information like your picture, contact preferences, and any community-specific details.
- Posts and Interactions: We collect the content you share, such as posts, comments, voting participation, and event attendance.
- Advisor Assignments: If you are assigned an Advisor, we collect information about the assignment and related consulting.
- Activity Logs: We collect data about how you interact with CAPP, such as logging in, liking posts, voting, or submitting issues.
1.2 For DAPP Users (Admins, Staff, and Advisors)
- Account Information: We collect your name, email address, and company details when you create an account on DAPP.
- Community Management Data: As a DAPP user, we collect information on the communities you manage, including member data, events, payments, and any issues raised by community members.
- Staff and Advisor Assignments: If you assign staff or Advisors, we collect the details of these assignments, including their roles within the community and access permissions.
- Payments: For Admins, we collect information about payment management within the community, though payment processing is handled by third-party services.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve the RiserNest platform. The purpose and use of data vary for CAPP users and DAPP users.
2.1 For CAPP Users
- Community Interaction: We use your data to allow you to interact with other community members by posting, commenting, and voting.
- Personalized Experience: We tailor your experience in the community based on your profile and preferences.
- Advisor Services: If you are assigned an Advisor, we share relevant data with the Advisor to provide consulting and advisory services that address your needs.
- Privacy Settings: CAPP users can choose between two privacy plans:
- Public Privacy Plan: With this plan, your real name and company name are visible to all community members by default, without requiring them to follow you. Community members can follow you without needing your approval. Once someone follows you, they can see your private posts. Avatar, display name, username, and public posts remain visible to all users, whether they follow you or not.
- Private Privacy Plan: With this plan, your real name, company name, and private posts are hidden from all users unless they send a follow request and receive your approval. However, your avatar, display name, username, and public posts will remain visible to all users. Admins, staff, and Advisors still have access to manage community operations and provide consulting services.
- Security and Compliance: We use your data to ensure compliance with community guidelines and protect your account from unauthorized access.
2.2 For DAPP Users
- Community Management: We use your data to allow you to manage your community, including adding members, assigning staff, handling payments, and overseeing events and issues.
- Assigning Advisors and Staff: As an Admin, we use your data to help you assign Advisors or staff to specific community members or companies, based on needs.
- Internal Analytics: We analyze community data to provide insights to Admins on community performance, event engagement, and member participation.
- Security: Your account and activities in DAPP are tracked to ensure that only authorized personnel have access to specific community data.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information. However, data sharing may occur depending on your role as a CAPP user or DAPP user.
3.1 For CAPP Users
- With Admins and Staff: Your profile, posts, votes, and other community interactions are visible to Admins and staff responsible for managing the community. Your privacy plan (public or private) determines who else can see your profile and posts within the community. In the Public Privacy Plan, your real name and company name are visible to all community members, while your private posts are visible only to those who follow you. Community members can follow you without needing your approval. Avatar, display name, username, and public posts remain visible to all users. In the Private Privacy Plan, your real name, company name, and private posts are only visible to users you approve as followers.
- With Advisors: If an Advisor is assigned to you, your data will be shared with the Advisor to provide consulting services. Admins are responsible for the eligibility and appropriateness of Advisors and the advice they provide.
3.2 For DAPP Users
- With Community Members: As an Admin or staff member, your interactions with community members (e.g., event management, issue resolution, and announcements) are visible to the relevant members within your community.
- With Advisors: If you assign Advisors to community members or companies, we share relevant community data to help Advisors fulfill their consulting roles.
- Third-Party Services: For both CAPP and DAPP users, we may share data with third-party services such as payment processors or hosting providers to facilitate the operation of RiserNest.
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose personal information if required by law, court order, or to prevent or address potential violations of our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy.
4. Admins' and Advisors' Responsibilities
4.1 For Admins and Staff
Admins and their staff are responsible for ensuring that all users within their community comply with this Privacy Policy. Admins must implement proper measures to protect user data, especially when assigning Advisors or staff members. Admins are fully responsible for the eligibility of Advisors and the accuracy of any advice provided.
4.2 For Advisors
Advisors may have access to the personal data of the companies or community members they serve. Advisors must use this data only for consulting purposes and comply with all relevant privacy and data protection regulations. Advisors are prohibited from using personal data for any purpose outside of the agreed advisory role.
5. Data Security

- Encryption: Sensitive data is encrypted during transmission between your device and our servers.
- Access Control: Only authorized users (Admins, staff, and Advisors) can access specific data relevant to their roles.

- Previous posts, interactions, and communications.
- Display name and username.
- Email address for administrative purposes.
This retained information helps maintain the continuity of community records and ensure the integrity of previous interactions, even after an account is deleted.
